Summer Job Opportunity – Intern at Freedom School Project
Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School is looking for young adults who are interested in education and would like to be in the classroom this summer. They will be hiring Servant Leader Interns at three sites this summer in Hartford’s North End neighborhood. This position is for a period of six weeks, from June 27th to August 5th. They are looking for passionate young people to work with scholars between grades K-5, those who want an experience in the education field, have a passion for working with children, and find value in giving back to their communities.
The applicant must be a distinguished college student or a recent college graduate. The position provides a total stipend of $3,630 over the course of 6 weeks.

BUILD Hartford – Course Opportunity
BUILD Hartford is looking to co-create opportunities for UConn students with the input of Launc[H], the City of Hartford, and community partners. These projects will be based around economic, innovative, and entrepreneurial opportunities in Hartford.
Students will work to understand opportunities in the Hartford Innovation Ecosystem, build connections to community organizations/stakeholders, and ideate solutions with attainable milestones within a specified timeline and budget. Students will also work with course instructors to pitch and identify mentors and community partners.
BUILD Hartford is a 3 credit course open to UConn undergraduate and graduate students in all majors from any campus. The program will be held in Downtown Hartford at the Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, from August 29 to December 9, 2022.

The Parks & Trails of New York staff are searching for a new intern as a part of the Arthur V. Savage program. The Arthur V. Savage Internship Program offers an opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates to work in Albany, NY with the Parks & Trails New York (PTNY) staff to shape policies, organize grassroots constituents and provide stewardship for parks, public lands, and other outdoor recreational facilities. The program provides interns with valuable, first-hand professional experience in the environmental field.

Community Engagement & Policy Internship – Hartford City Council
The offices of Councilwoman Tiana Hercules and Councilman Josh Michtom seek to work with student interns to develop or improve policy through direct community engagement and research.
This internship will allow student interns to gain experience with public policy and community engagement. The position will combine research with community engagement by choosing a relevant policy for the student to research and present to members of the Hartford community. Each intern will be focusing on collecting and analyzing relevant information and data relating to a policy priority and finding strategic ways to engage the Hartford community into conversations about their thoughts and opinions about such policy. This specific internship would focus on translating data and results into more commonly understandable language with a more accessible presentation. Tools that will be used include infographics, social media plans, photography, video production, website management, and press outreach. Experience with these is helpful, but training is available. This position is unpaid.

Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates is seeking a motivated, inquisitive, and organized junior transportation planner for its Boston office to support the firm’s nationally recognized work in planning for more equitable and livable communities. The junior transportation planners focus on planning for municipalities, agencies, universities, and private clients. Graduate Student Fellowship Opportunity – Wood/Raith Living Trust
The Wood/Raith Living Trust Summer Fellowship is now accepting applications, open to graduate students only.
In an effort to support UCONN graduate students’ research efforts in gender-related activities, they invite graduate students, across all fields of study at UConn, to apply for summer research fellowships. For 2022, the Wood/Raith Living Trust will award 12 graduate fellowships at a maximum of $4,000 each. Over the past four years, they have funded 49 Wood/Raith graduate student scholars. They prioritize funding those students who don’t otherwise have summer support.
In your application, please provide the following:
- An opening 100-word paragraph that contextualizes past teaching, research, and service activities that are gender-related.
- Edited 2-page maximum CV, including primarily gender-related activities that pertain to teaching, research, service, and funding (both internal and external).
- A 325-word summary of specific gender identity research projects, including:
- a concise overview of the project, providing details to orient the reader to relevant research questions, argument/theory that informs the work, approach/methods used, and the work’s importance.
- planned accomplishments during the grant period, and
- a clear statement of significance to the study of gender identity outlined for the period (summer 2022).
