Student Worker Position – UCS Office on the Hartford Campus

The Urban and Community Studies Program on the Hartford campus is seeking a part time student worker to provide clerical (i.e., data entry, filing, scanning, copying, proofreading, stocking of supplies, and front desk coverage) and program support. The student will also assist with the planning and execution of program events including tabling to educate students about our program. The student worker may also perform other office duties as assigned. Must be available to work a minimum of three to eight hours per week depending on program needs during our regular program office hours.

Minimum:

Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff
Good writing and organizational skills, with attention to detail
A solid understanding of Microsoft Word
A positive attitude
Must be able to use discretion and abide by university confidentiality standards
Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently
Ability to follow through with assignments
Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely fashion

Preferred:

Experience proofreading
Undergraduate student familiar with the Urban and Community Studies Program/major
Experience with event planning, tabling and/or community engagement
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Publisher, and/or Canva.
Hourly rate: $14.15/hour to $14.50/hour
